Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry offers a highly effective alternative to painful and noisy drilling procedures. Lasers can now be used to perform a variety of functions, including cavity removal, tooth restoration, and periodontal surgery.

Dental lasers can also remove plaque and dental decay from a cavity-affected tooth, preparing it for a filling. A laser beam can also help harden bonding material. Laser Dentistry can in some cases effectively reshape gums, remove excess or affected gum tissue in gum disease sufferers, and remove bacteria from between diseased gums and teeth.

What are the Benefits of Laser Dentistry?

There are currently four areas of dental care that are enjoying the benefits of laser dentistry:

    1. 1. Cavity removal can be accomplished with dental lasers. The laser has the ability to remove decay within a tooth, and prepare the surrounding enamel for bonded fillings. The need for anesthesia is greatly reduced or eliminated over the traditional methods.

    1. 2. Curing, or hardening bonding materials is another area where dental lasers have become important. The laser drastically reduces the time it takes to finish a filling and create what some researchers have shown to be a stronger dental restoration.

    1. 3. Whitening teeth can be accomplished with special solutions that are applied to the tooth surface in the dental office and activated by laser energy. Color changes of several shades is possible in a very short time. When combined with at-home tray based whitening systems, dramatic changes can be seen in even the most difficult cases.

    1. 4. Laser Dental Procedures:
      • Frenectomy
      • Depigmentation
      • Vestibuloplasty
      • Gingivoplasty
      • Pocket Disinfection
      • Operculectomy
      • Gingival Enlargements
      • Bleaching/Tooth Whitening

    1. 5. Periodontal, or gum related care is the fourth area benefiting in some cases from dental lasers. Laser dentistry is currently used for recontouring or reshaping gums, removing extra or diseased gum tissue associated with the use of certain medications or periodontal disease, and removing the bacteria in periodontal pockets to promote healing. Healing time and post operative discomfort can be significantly reduced over the traditional surgical methods.

How Laser Periodontitis Treatment Works- LANAP Protocol Steps

1 Pocket depths are measured.

Dr Brijesh Patel at Brij Dental Clinic in Ahmedabad will measure your periodontal pockets using a small dental ruler to determine how much loss of attachment has occurred.

2 Bacteria and diseased tissue are removed.

Laser light is aimed inside the pockets to quickly identify and kill bacteria and eliminate diseased areas. This is the only periodontitis treatment that is able to gently and accurately identify disease without harming healthy gum tissue, tooth roots, and bone.

3 Calculus is removed.

Calculus (tartar) deposits, which are the hardened particles under the gum line, are denatured or broken up with the laser and then removed using ultrasonic scalers.

4 Blood clots are formed.

Dr Brijesh Patel now uses the laser near the bottom of the periodontal pockets to stir the bone and tissue and create small clots. These natural seals will help block out bacteria and provide a clean and safe healing environment for the gums.

5 Gum tissue is compressed.

Healthy gum tissue is pressed against the root surfaces of the teeth to encourage natural attachment without having to use sutures.

6 The bite is adjusted.

During the final step of a laser periodontitis treatment, will ensure the bite is in the correct position, especially in areas where bone density is low, and make any adjustments if necessary.

Testimonials

Anshul Kumar
“I have undergone root-canal surgery and molar extraction from Dr. Brijesh Patel. Would highly recommend him to anybody who is in need of any dental procedures. During my consultation, he very patiently explained the procedures that had to be done. The only issue that really concerned me was the pain associated with these treatments, but Dr. Brijesh assured me that there would virtually be no pain at all. And contrary to popular belief, the root canal surgery and the molar extraction were almost painless. His team is brilliant and they take utmost care of you. I had to reschedule my appointments 3-4 times due to my odd office hours and he was always at help. Definitely check him out if you are in need of any dental procedures.”  Check Original Five Star*****Rated Review At Clinic’s Google Plus Page.
