Complexity of The Case.
Cases that require significant movement of teeth and/or the patient’s jaw structures are often described as complex which require more time, more efforts and more cost. Here are some complex called Cases like, with multiple missing teeth, severe overcrowding, impacted dentition and Crossbite, Openbite, Cl-II and Cl-III Malocclusion.
Additional charges whether IPR (Interproximal reduction), Extraction, scaling, Filling or Transparent retainer plates are required or not.
The initial appointment can last for about 30 minutes to one hour, or depending on your case. During the consultation, impressions (Models ) of your upper and lower teeth will be taken through digital photographs and radiographs (OPG and Lateral cephalogram ), and evaluation of your occlusion or bite will be done.
Your orthodontist will then explain the treatment plan, various issues that need to be addressed and will discuss solutions and alternatives, and the possible risks and limitations. Additionally, fees and total time of the treatment will be explained.
This is the stage when the braces are put on. This is a very intricate process where the bands and brackets are placed on your teeth. Your dentist will then glue or Bond the braces onto both your top sets of teeth and the metal bands will be fitted and cemented in place in molars. Then, wires will be tied and torqued, and the patient will have the freedom to choose color elastics – used to hold the wire in the slot on the bracket. Oral hygiene and proper home teeth care will be discussed as well.
Routine appointments, typically every 4 weeks for at least half an hour, will be scheduled to enable your dentist to monitor progress or to do adjustments and wire modifications as needed. The braces are tightened, colored elastics are changed and broken brackets are replaced.
After all the hard work, this is the stage when you can smile all you want as your braces are to be taken off. The brackets and bands are removed, the teeth are cleaned and polished and final photographs are taken. An impression is also taken for the final removable retainers.
After the initial delivery of the retainers, an appointment will be set for final follow up. And checking retainer every six month for at least period of 1.5 to 2 years.

Orthodontics (also referred to as dentofacial orthopedics) is a specialized form of dentistry focusing on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial abnormalities.
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has received two to three years of additional training and experience. Your orthodontist is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure, and improve the function of your smile.
If you want to improve the look and feel of your smile, then any age can be a great age to see the orthodontist. Average Age is 11 to 13 Years. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of seven; however, orthodontic treatment is not exclusive to children and teens, with about one in every five orthodontic patients being over the age of 21.
Braces are used by your orthodontist to help you improve the look and feel of your smile. There are several different types of braces to choose from, including:
• Ceramic braces
• Traditional metal braces
• Lingual braces
• Self-ligating braces
• Clear braces or Invisible braces
The amount of time spent in braces will vary depending on the individual patient, because every smile responds differently to treatment. Treatment times can take anywhere between12 to 30 months, but most standard treatments take about 18 months.
Braces do not often hurt though you may feel a small amount of discomfort for a couple days as your teeth, gums, cheeks, and mouth get used to your new braces.
Yes! In fact, it’s even more important that patients receiving orthodontic treatment visit their dentist regularly every month.
Yes. A tooth with a crown will move just like a tooth with a simple filling. When teeth are missing, orthodontic treatment will aid in the alignment of the remaining teeth.

There are five essential questions that we will cover during the initial examination:
• Is there an orthodontic problem, and if so, what is it?
• What must be done to correct the problem?
• Will any teeth need to be removed?
• How long will the treatment take to complete?
• How much will the treatment cost?
Playing an instrument or a contact sport may require some adjustment when you first get your braces, but wearing braces will not stop you from participating in any of your school activities. If you play a contact sport, it is recommended that you wear a mouthguard to protect your braces or appliance.
HOW CAN I TAKE CARE OF MY TEETH IF I’M WEARING BRACES OR A RETAINER?
• ALWAYS remember to brush your teeth after every meal and floss at least once a day.
• Make sure to use toothpaste that contains fluoride, and ask your orthodontist or family dentist if you need a fluoride rinse. This will help prevent cavities!
• If you take out your retainer to eat, make sure you brush your teeth, floss, and remember to keep it safe in its container so that it does not get lost or broken.
• Keep your retainer clean, too, by brushing it gently with a toothbrush and toothpaste. You may also soak it in denture cleaner as instructed by your orthodontist. Do not put your retainer in boiling water or in the dishwasher.
• During your treatment, try to avoid foods with a lot of sugar, which increases the amount of bacteria that grows in your mouth, causing more plaque and possibly cavities.
• Avoid sticky and chewy foods (caramel, chewing gum, gummy bears), hard foods (hard candy, nuts, ice cubes), or any foods that could possibly get stuck in your braces (corn on the cob, soft bagels, ribs, taffy, etc.).
• Be sure to schedule your routine checkups with your family dentist. It is recommended that you continue to visit the dentist every six months.

Are retainers necessary and how long will I have to wear one?
A retainer is a device worn full or part-time after braces have been removed. The retainer is designed to prevent your teeth from drifting or moving while the bone around your teeth hardens and stabilizes. The longer you wear your retainer, the better your chances that your teeth will not relapse. Retainers provide assurance that your teeth will stay in perfect alignment while your jaw continues to grow or develop. We recommend that retainers are worn a lifetime.
How often do I have to visit Dr Brijesh Patel’s Brij Dental Clinic when I’m wearing a retainer?
During the first year and a half of retention, you will still visit our orthodontic offices periodically. After that period, you no longer need to visit our offices, but it is your responsibility to wear your retainer as Dr Brijesh Patel prescribes.
Where should I store my retainer?
Protect your retainer — store it in its case so that it doesn’t get damaged. If your retainer does become damaged, call for a repair appointment.
